Is Ozempic the weight loss jugaad we all had been waiting for?

If obesity is a disease, is Ozempic the cure?.

Welcome to newsletter #1.

Grab a cup of coffee, relax your spine… Let’s begin.

What's inside :

  • Is Ozempic the miracle weight loss drug we always wanted, or a just a jugaad?

  • Jargon of the day

  • Habit of the week

  • Goal of the month

For us, Indians, the ability to find a "jugaad” is our superpower.!
Cheapest landing on the moon, cheapest car in the world, or trying to lose weight in the laziest way possible.

It's very hard for use to resist a nice jugaad.

So how about this miracle pill that has helped celebrities like Elon Musk shed their kilos? Can we jugadofy it for our weight loss dreams too?

Let's dive deeper into the world of weight loss medicines.

but first things first - if you gain “weight” essentially what you gain is excess fat tissue in your body which is holding the unused calories we ate, which hopefully some day will come to our rescue if we face starvation. But while they are lying unused, they cause a lot of harm to our body, from diabetes to breathing problems, to neurological conditions and what not…!

there are basically two methods of avoiding this excess calorie accumulation in our body. A- Eat Less and B- Burn the excess calories.

Both of these methods require unpleasant amount of will power and patience. So what if we could “hack” our way into our metabolism and stop the calories from getting stored? and thus started the search for weight loss medications.

So what is Ozempic? it is basically a diabetes medicine repurposed (jugaadofied) as a weightloss medicine.

it’s technical name is “semaglutide” and it increases the secretion of a hormone called glucagon which helps suppress appetite. If we feel less hungry, we eat less and don’t accumulate excess calories. Voila..effortless weight loss.

but is it as good as it sounds?

there are a few solid reasons I would say Ozempic is not your casual weight loss supplement

  • it is expensive - An Ozympic shot costs around Rs 20,000 each injection, which is given once a week for six months on average.

  • it can have various side effects ranging from bloating to low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) to depression due to lack of appetite. (appetite is closely related to motivation and mood).

  • counterfeit medication has been reported in Europe and Britain, so I will be even more skeptical here in India.

So, is this jugaad worth your the risk , time and money? probably yes, under medical guidance and supervision with a strong foundation of healthy habits.

What is your take on this? are you team Ozempic or team exercise + diet?

Jargon of the day:

Body Mass Index (BMI) - a ratio of your weight according your height which is the most popular (not the most accurate) method of deciding which weight loss method will suit you, and how id your progress.

Habit of the week:

Cutting down screen time by one hour improves happiness, sleep and helps lose weight.

Goal of the month:

Make one simple meal on your own for yourself at least 3 days a week. ( Salad works )
